Brooksbro sat dejectedly in a small patch of moonlight, glaring down at his hand. What he wouldn't give to just be shattered again, to not have to deal with the looks the others tried to hide.
He didn't want the strength these "cyber" limbs gave him, he wanted to feel the pull and stretch of flesh and blood, not the cold shifting of metal.
A hand lightly brushed against his arm, "Brooksbro? Are you alright?"
His gaze remained riveted on the metal hand, Verida had been coming to see him every night, at least once before the sun rose. After that, Goliath had made some sort of pact with the human he called "Elisa" to make sure he didn't try something stupid during the daylight hours.
Verida's insistent hand tightened, "I said are you okay?"
Brooksbro growled and looked back at her, "No, I'm not 'okay'"
He twisted around to face her fully, she impatiently folded her tattered wings and frowned at him, demanding an explanation. Brooksbro leaned forward until his beak was almost touching her nose, "I am half-alive thanks to the meddling of this 'Xanatos' and my old leader, Demona. They used foul magic to give me this armor, and make me no better than the robot gargoyles you fight. I am no longer a natural, God made creature, I'm an abomination, not fit to be seen under Heaven."
"Is that why you're hiding in here?"
Brooksbro sighed, adjusting the metal wing at his side, "Save your time for someone who is worth it. Leave me in peace Verida, let me rust here in peace."
She shifted uncomfortably, "We all have a higher purpose Brooksbro, even you, nothing will ever change our fates."
He turned away from her pitying gaze, watching the moon set over the city sky-line, "What purpose can I have? I am nothing more than a broken statue...."
Happy Halloween Everyone! This is to be my first Halloween picture to date.
And for kicks and giggles, I present you with a teeny tiny back-story to go along with it. (Although I think we all know that Verida is not going to leave our sulky Gargoyle alone.
